McDonald's Burger No Longer Costs 1 Euro: Customers don't like it at all

 Munich -

A hamburger or a small fries for one euro? Those days are now over for good.

McDonald's raised its prices at the beginning of the month - that really pisses off customers.

Fast food giant McDonald's is raising prices

The “multiplication table” concept has been attracting customers to the branches for almost 15 years. Now the fast food chain is turning the price screw nationwide.

Since Monday, customers have had to dig deeper into their pockets. A McDonald's hamburger has cost 1.29 euros since Monday - a proud increase of 29 percent.

Other products such as coffee or ice cream are also expected to become more expensive soon. Nevertheless, the prices can vary across Germany, as the head office has given a non-binding price recommendation.

The American group is reacting to higher purchasing costs, according to an EXPRESS request. McDonald's also wants to "offer consistently high quality".

The Mc's fans don't want to understand that. “We are aware that after such a long time, a change naturally evokes reactions,” says the company. The fast food chain's Facebook channel has already been criticized for the price increase.

“Where did the western sauce go?

Why is the hamburger 29% more expensive, even though the government is also lowering the VAT for McDonald's? ”You can read under the comments.

“The fact that our guests are commenting on and taking notice of the increase in the price of the hamburger shows us how popular this product is,” says McDonald's.

Burger giant McDonald's hit by the corona crisis

In order to get companies out of the economic corona crisis, VAT was temporarily lowered. McDonald's consumers don't seem to benefit from it, however.

So, every little hunger is noticeable on the receipt. According to the Federal Statistical Office, meat or fruit and vegetables were much more expensive in April 2020 than in the previous year. All customers now have to live with that. "We are convinced that most of the guests understand that we too have to react to higher purchasing costs over time," McDonald's is sure. (cg)
